  1. Well the big things to do I guess would be a visit to Stanley Park (and the Aquarium there). You could rent a bike to ride the 10km of the seawall path that circumnavigates the park.

Granville Island Market is nice, I live near here and we visit all the time. Try to visit Monday - Friday as the weekends are very busy.

Grouse Mountain and the Capilano Suspension Bridge are both in North Vancouver and easily accessible by public transit.

It really depends on what interests you. The downtown core is quite small and very walkable. It is home to over 80,000 people and quite alive day and night so I would recommend that you stay downtown.

  2. On the way to Vancouver, if it's a nice day, I'd recommend seeing Deception Pass State Park. You take Hwy. 20 towards Anacortes and then head south towards Oak Harbor. It's about 15 miles from the highway (I'd guess). It's beautiful there...

As for Vancouver, when I've been there I've enjoyed visiting Granville Island, Stanley Park, Chinatown, and Harbor Centre Tower. You won't be lacking in things to do there!
