I am going to Brazil in just over a month and I am going to stay with my best friend and her family. But I don't eat Seafood. Should i send them an email with all the foods I can not/don't eat? I also have done a lot of reading on the region she is from and they eat a lot of sea food.

  1. Well, first off I wouldn't send them an email with all the foods you can/can't eat...That would be rude. I would discreetly tell my bestfriend about it, I mean they are your bestfriend right? She/he would be able to understand.

  2. I recently spent a week in Rio and had the opportunity to eat seafood only once.  I was struck by the amount of meat was served at restaurants and such - waiters would carry around large sticks with all different kinds of meat and carve it right at your table.  There was a lot of beans and rice, every where we went, and lots of fruit.  I wouldn't email to tell them what foods you don't eat, but certainly mention any food allergies when you get there - they don't need to know ahead of time if you are picky :)  Have a good trip!

  3. I am Brazilian from Rio. I don't like seafood too. We don't have only it. We eat beans, rice, salad (I love salad!)... If you don't like all these foods I said we have Hamburgers in Snacks place near of our houses and Mac Donald's in Rio's Shopping Centers. About the E-mail Melissa is right.
