Visiting families for the holidays? I need some advice?

I'm a senior in college & my husband has a full time job. He gets 3 weeks paid vacation + 2 weeks of "sick" leave per year, but he can't take it after Halloween (which is nice, but sucks at the same time). Last year, we both had to work the day after Thanksgiving, and then my best friend got married in my hometown that Saturday, so my parents made a late Thanksgiving dinner for us. Then we were supposed to go to his family's for Christmas, but my hubby ended up getting his appendix taken out on Dec. 19th. So we went for New Years Eve instead. We've decided to go ahead and plan for this year the best that we can. We thought about going to his family's for Thx & mine for C-mas. The thing is, my granny, who is closer to me than either of my parents has been very ill with cancer & strokes since the beginning of July. I'd like to see her for one holiday or the other. Should I just ask my parents if they'd mind driving to TN to be with the grandparents and us? I'm afraid this might be her last Christmas.... Or maybe have my family come to my house (the middle point)? Or should I just go to my parents' house in MD as planned?

  1. How would your Granny get from Tennessee to your house?

Sounds like a good idea if it wouldn't be too hard on her.

  2. I think it's ok to ask them to drive to your grandparents.  After all, this could be her last holiday and the family should spend the time over there.
