I am taking a trip to visit a friend in the DC area and would like know what the best places to hang out in the Georgetown area would be. I have heard that there are a lot of bars and such because of the college town but I am in my early 30's and am not sure about doing body shots with 18 year olds but don't exactly want to listen to easy jazz with the older crowd--- help!!

  1. I would recommend the waterfront.  My friend and I used to hang out there quite a bit and it seemed to be an older late 20's to mid-30's crowd.  You can also find some bars that aren't so crowded with students.  Just peek inside before you go in and you'll be able to tell what age range is there.  Also, if you're there in the summer, you won't run into as many students as when school is in.

If you get off of M Street which is the main drag in Georgetown, you'll be more likely to find bars that aren't overrun with college students.

One place to avoid would be Rhino Bar.  That's a big hangout for the Georgetown students.

  2. Georgetown isn't just the 18 year old and the Georgetown U crowd. you will  find other 30 somethings there. lots of them.

  3. I've never seen anyone over the age of 25 in Georgetown.  I am 28 and refuse to hang out with a bunch of drunk college kids.  Try downtown DC, McArthur Park Area.  That's where the grown ups hang out.  Avoid Adams-Morgan too if you don't want a bunch of drunk boys folllowing you around falling down all over the place.

  4. I have been going to Georgetown since I was young. Now I am 69 years old I still love Georgetown.

This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America.

  5. Georgetown is great for all ages and the waterfront at Georgetown is beautiful this time of year.
