Hi..Im a visitor in Ontario, Canada -- I dont have any student/PR or resident status and I have a pain in my hip...I wanted to get it checked out and possibly have an x ray done but I dont know if thats possible..I dont have a health card or anything like that....are there clinics that can still see me and do an x ray for me and would they take cash? Any idea how much?> I just want a consultation and an x ray at the moment...I live in Hamilton, Ontario.

  1. yes you can, when i arrived in Canada the doctor charged me $50 or a visit and i paid in cash'

sorry i don't know the cost of an xray but yes you can get one

  2. In Ontario, a non resident may pay cash in a hospital for an X-ray. It will run you anywhere from $250-$2000. Our walk in clinics do not do x-rays mostly, they contract out.

  3. Ok, well the first answer is wrong. You can go to any clinic. You will just have to pay. Our walk in visits are free because we have an OHIP card, but as you do not live here you do not have an OHIP card. You'll notice in any clinic theres a sign that says you have to pay if you cannot provide an OHIP card.

As for x-ray's though you'll have to go to the ER for that. Walk in clinics do not have x-ray machines. And again, at the hospital ER you'll just have to pay.

But if you have some kind of health plan from where-ever your permenent country is they may re-imburse you. I know some of our plans do that if we're out of the country and require medical care.

  4. If you have a credit card, yes, you can.  I'm not sure about paying in cash in person.  I'm in a different province from you, so the pay rate is different, but, I would guess it will cost you around $300 to $500.

  5. Go to a hospital emergency room. They will have the office staff to deal with payment.
