Vista Home Premium or XP?

Question

I'm buying a laptop for college, and I'm not sure which system I should get. I have access to both Vista and XP, I just don't know enough about either. I've heard that XP has worked better, but won't XP soon get outdated? Especially if they come out with Windows 7 in 2009-2010, will I still be able to use XP or will it become outdated and obsolete, will they stop making programs for it, etc?

Or in short, which one, Vista or XP?

For now XP is better & more compatible with allot of things.

And on top of that vista uses allot more ram then XP does.

But sooner or later sad but yes XP will get outdated as seems Vista is improving with every update they get.

Lots of people have had problems with Vista.  I haven't (other than using 64-bit Vista and finding a few cases where 64-bit drivers haven't been written yet).  I prefer Vista.

I have experienced both. I really like XP for sure. I now am using vista and microsoft has really fixed it and makes it work great. I would go with VIsta, because as you say, XP will be obsolete one day. Vista works just fine for what you would be using it for.

there's a lot of problem in XP..if your reading some reviews and rating...for me yes..i would choose XP coz i got a window vista laptop and i hav 2 constantly update it or else it sucks...right i dont think i want an XP..so do some research and review...

Vista that is probably what your college will be using if it is a modern establishment
