Vista start up slow?

yesteday my vista pc got corrupt, when it booted up it showed a black screen so i system restored it and its gone a bit slow but the start up is just unbeleivalle it takes 3minutes from acer screen to welcome and i have 1.7gb ram. anyone have any suggentions?

    Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!

    Spyware/Adware

    RAM

    De-Fragmenting

    Etc.

    Below can help you speed up your pc:

    Manage your startup:

    Open your Start menu  ->  Click Run ->  In the command screen type "msconfig.exe" ->  In the "system configuration utility", click either "service" or "startup" tab ->  Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

    De-Fragmenting

    1. Right click of C Disk.

    2. Click properties.

    3. Click tools tab.

    4. Click "Defragment now".

    5. Click Defragment.

    You can search which process full use you cpu, and end the process.

    Under steps:

    1. right click on the TaskBar.

    2. click the Task Manager.

    3. click the processes tab.

    4. double click the CPU.

    5. find if the "System Idle Process" is max.

    6. if not right click and click end process.

It could be some of your hardware is getting older or just wearing out.  The faster the computer system the faster it can run hot and wear it's life down,  The startup problem could be fixed by either entering the BIOS usually by pressing DEL or F2 on most systems and making sure the startup mode is set to short or the option that may refer to checking RAM everytime the system boots up.  It isn't always name under the same option and on some systems it isn't even availble but it is worth a try.

    Another option is replacing your RAM, or even the CMOS battery that looks like it goes into a watch.
