  1. Don't be fooled by people who are scared of change, and people who buy into Apples "I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC" add campaign. Vista is a technically superior operating system. It makes better usage of the 2GB of memory that you have unlike windows XP, which was designed when 256MB was common and 512MB was a lot.

People gripe that Vista uses more memory. It should use more memory! What is the point of having 2 Gigs of memory if more than half of it never gets used! You paid for it! Use it!

Your system spec should be enough to run Vista, so long as it has a newer directX 9 or 10 Video card, or onboard video device. Make sure of your video compatibility before you install Vista. (Any computer released within the past year or two should be more than enough to run it)

Vista boots faster, runs smoother, has less crashes (I have NEVER had one)  it's easier to use and it looks and feels much more modern. Also, they have all but solved all of the compatibility issues that scared people away from the get go. I recommend it.

  2. in reality, windows XP is a hella lot better than vista, vista is buggy, thus secure.

Windows xp requires 512mb ram at minimum, and vista requires AT LEAST 2GB to run smoothly.

Go XP, give it that extra 1.5GB, it will be a LOT faster. trust me!
