Vista won't detect my dvd drive

hi,i gt a new laptop last week and at first it worked finebt then vista just stopped detecting my dvd drive - it's a matshita dvd rw with lightscribenow everytime i turn on the lap it get's detected and sometimes it just vanishes off "my computer"i deleted the registry entries as suggested ny one expert - didn't helpi updated the driev too bt still nothingHelp?thankyou
