Question:

Vista wont let me delete a folder on my desktop?

I created this folder a while ago to hide a few *cough* pictures.

Anyway, I put it on my desktop with a blank name [Alt 255] and I changed the icon to blank as well. A bit ago I decided to move the contents of this folder to somewhere else because every time I turned my computer back on the icon turned to black. Now it wont let me delete, rename or even move the folder off my desktop. How do I get rid of this useless folder?

  1. If you know how to use command prompt- you could do a search for the folder in the Desktop folder of your username- using the command dir- and then use the delete folder command in command prompt to get rid of it.

It might be risky, though- especially if you're not familiar with command prompt.  Make sure to do a little research if you don't know what you're doing.

  2. Lol.

try starting ure pc and keep tapping F8

start the pc in safe mode

and then try to delete it

hopefully nothing will stop u as the folder may be in use at the moment by something or another

  3. use this freeware program http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/unlocke...

  4. Try dragging it into your recycle bin.
