Vitali Klitschko: I would not want to fight with Holyfield – Boxing News
WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko spoke about heavyweight Evander Holyfield during his press conference in Morocco. Vitali responded to Holyfield’s recent challenge of calling out the Klitschko brothers saying he will not fight Holyfield. According
to Vitali, Holyfield is his hero and that is why he would never fight him.
“I would not want to fight with Holyfield, but for one reason only: he is my hero. I followed his career and admired his preparation,” said Vitali.
“Psychologically, it is very difficult – to fight with one’s hero.”
On the other hand, Vitali thinks low of Briton fighter David Haye.
“David Haye and I were to box on September 8, when I will now fight Charr in Moscow.”
Vitali has never been against Haye, but the recent acquisition by the Briton have pissed him off.
“But at the last moment, when he had been sent a contract, [Haye] chose to meet with Chisora. What do I do? I will not run to David Haye and beg him to meet with me,” said Vitali.
It should be noted here that David Haye has already shrugged down the notion of being offered a contract by Vitali. According to Haye, they never sent him a contract regarding the fight.
The Ukrainian champion then spoke about his and his brother Wladimir Klitschko’s fights. Answering remarks of most analysts that both the brothers choose easy opponents which is why their fights are dull, Vitali said, “In this regard, by the way, it would
be appropriate to ask another question: why are the fights of Klitschko brothers seen as not interesting? Because we do not give our enemies a chance to attack us.”
He added that he and his brother uses ‘speed, reflexes and coordination’ in order to make their opponents weak and not allowing them the chance to attack. Vitali believes the fight between Chisora and Haye was exciting to watch, not because the duo is superb
but because it remained unclear until the end as to who will win the fight.
The Ukrainian proud believes he and his brother Wladimir Klitschko have a grip over their games, which is why they are able to dominate their opponents right from the start.
