Vitali Klitschko and his camp blames David Haye for backing out of the fight – Boxing News
After an impressive fifth round knockout victory over Dereck Chisora, David Haye wants to go head to head with the WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. However, things between both the fighters are not good enough to come to a conclusion.
Haye blames Vitali Klitschko for backing off from the situation, whereas Vitali’s camp accuses Haye for doing the same.
“David Haye was supposed to be at this press conference. He had a concrete offer for a fight in September and he refused. He turned down a fight with Vitali Klitschko in favor of one with Chisora,” said Vitali Klitschko in his recent press conference.
It should be noted here that David Haye has ended his retirement tenure to fight Vitali Klitschko. He fought Dereck Chisora on July 14 to make a statement and end his long time rivalry. He knocked out Dereck Chisora in the fifth round, showing the world
he is in the best of his form.
Now, Haye wishes to fight Vitali but he is unsure if the fight will ever happen.
“We offered Haye the fight in September but he chose to fight Chisora instead because that was easier for him. David probably turned Vitali down because he got more money against Chisora, who is by far the easier opponent. We had a contract ready for Haye,
had booked an arena, but he turned us down for a second time – the first time he chose to face Nikolai Valuev instead,” said Vitali’s manager Bernd Bonte in his recent interview regarding the issue.
David Haye lost to Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir Klitschko two years back and he decided to retire. However, after a public brawl with Dereck Chisora in Munich earlier this year, Haye decided to come back to settle score with Chisora and end his career
with a victory against Vitali Klitschko.
For now, Haye claims he is satisfied with his career, with or without Vitali. According to him, he has defeated Chisora, making his worldwide fans happy. Therefore, the Briton fighter claims his career has met a happy ending and even if he does not face
Vitali, he will be happy with his legacy.
