Vitali Klitschko desperate to beat David Haye before the Brit retires – Boxing news
The current World Boxing Council’s world heavyweight champion, Vitali Klitschko, is still on a lookout for the former World Boxing Association’s world heavyweight champion, David Haye, as the 6 ft 8” Ukrainian giant desperately wants to beat the Brit before
he hangs up his gloves.
The Hayemaker, Haye, lost his WBA title to Vitali’s younger brother, Wladimir Klitschko, who is the current WBA Super, IBF, WBO Super, IBO and Ring Magazine Champion, in a highly anticipated unification bout on July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg’s Football Stadium
in Germany.
The 30-year-old brash Londoner, Haye, declared a lot ahead of his mega showdown but failed to deliver on the fight night and hence he lost to Wladimir on a unanimous points’ decision. Haye afterwards claimed his toe was injured as a result he could not land
his Hayemaker punch.
Haye desperately wanted to have a rematch with Wladimir, as he wants to avenge his defeat but his offer was turned down by Dr. Steelhammer.
However Vitali Klitschko, who has won 42 of his 44 professional fights, with 39 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is calling out Haye since then, as he thinks Haye has not been properly punished by his younger brother who vowed to knockout Haye
prior to the fight.
The 40-year-old Vitali, also known as Dr. Ironfist, knows Haye is planning retirement in October 2011. Therefore, Vitali wants to settle the unfinished business with him.
While speaking on his inclusion, Vitali said, “David Haye has hurt our family again. Wladimir beat him in a big fight for the world title and I am very proud. Unfortunately, the right ending was missing and I would like to catch up to David Haye in the ring
and put him in the dust.”
All that is left to see is whether Haye, who holds a record of winning 25 of his 27 professional fights, with 23 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, responds to Vitali or not.
