Vitali Klitschko has no answer for David Haye’s questions – Boxing News
While Vitali Klitschko successfully defended his WBC heavyweight title against Manuel Charr, David Haye believes the Ukrainian was not up to the mark. The fight was stopped by the referee in the fourth round, after Manuel Char suffered a huge cut above his
right eye.
While the victory was a delight for Klitschko, it became a hurdle for David Haye. Unfortunately, the Briton, who was looking forward to a future showdown against Vitali Klitschko, was disappointed to know the Ukrainian champion called it his last fight.
“I feel for Charr. If roles were reversed, do you think K2's regular German doctor would have stopped Vitali Klitschko?” said Haye regarding the fourth round stoppage.
David Haye has been pestering Vitali Klitschko for a match since last year. Recently, the former heavyweight champion went head to head against fellow Briton fighter Dereck Chisora. Since the bout was not sanctioned by the British Board of Boxing Control
as neither fighter held a BBBC license, the Luxembourg Boxing Federation sanctioned it. Following BBBC’s footsteps, even the WBC banned David Haye. However, since the bout was a success and Haye successfully proved his mettle by knocking out Dereck Chisora,
the WBC welcomed him back.
Upon WBC’s approval, David Haye was hopeful of scoring a shot against Klitschko, but to his dismay, it did not happen. Vitali Klitschko stated that he is ‘busy’ and might not be able to fight Haye, contradicting his manager’s previous statement that read
the WBC champion is thinking of taking on Haye next year.
“I'm facing major tasks and not only in sports. I'll fly to Kiev in the morning and will be fully occupied with preparations for the parliamentary elections [in October] as the leader of the party,” said Vitali.
“I'm 41 and I'm still boxing, but one cannot trick nature - I will have to hang my gloves on a nail soon,” he added.
For now, there is no hope for Haye to score a shot at Vitali. Probably, the Ukrainian boxer has realised he is unable to fight anymore. His victory over Charr was not what he was expecting. According to Vitali, he was looking forward to a knockout over Charr,
instead he won via TKO.
