Vitali Klitschko retains gold for 8th consecutive time after nailing Dereck Chisora – Boxing news
In one of the most anticipated brawls, Vitali Klitschko, the current WBC heavyweight champion, successfully retained his gold for the eighth consecutive time by defeating Briton Dereck Chisora through a unanimous decision.
The two heavyweights were scheduled to collide for a 12-round bout at Olympiahalle arena situated in Munich, Germany. Both men made sure to give viewers something they were expecting. Vitali and Chisora both are highly acclaimed prolific heavyweight brawlers
and an engagement between two such men always results in a bout to remember.
The fight got so much hype that even Lennox Lewis, the former great heavyweight pugilist, got involved and threw comments in support of Dereck.
Chisora claimed a lot before the bout but all of his vows were shattered on the day.
Dereck was so much confident that he even slapped Vitali in the pre-bout press conference. Vitali on the other hand remained calm and did not lose his cool. The bout started and both men gave all what they had in them. Dereck put up a great show but he was
not at all equivalent to the Ukrainian Dr. Ironfist.
Vitali had been in a total 45 brawls. He has won 43 of his encounters and a whopping 40 by knockout hence securing a KO ratio of 86.96%. Dereck on the other hand had been in a total of 17 brawls and he came out victorious in 15. He collected nine of his
wins by knockout.
Vitali heavily overshadowed his young surging opponent as far as the experience is concerned. The Ukrainian 40-year-old has nailed many impressive names in his career and has put up some great brawls. Chisora, on the contrary was denoted as far too young
to be the huge veteran’s opponent.
Vitali and Dereck gave very tough time to each other and in the fourth round Dr. Ironfist’s left fist got hurt which made him continue the fight with just the right hand.
Vitali after the brawl said, “I’m very upset because I wanted very much to knock him out…great performance by Chisora.”
The three designated judges allocated 118-110, 118-110, and 119-111 to Vitali.
Vitali now stands at 44 wins in a total 46 bouts and Chisora after collecting his second straight loss has 15 wins in a total of 18 bouts.
