Vitali vs. Haye being advertised for June 2 – Boxing News
Finally, Vitali Klitschko and David Haye are ready to go one on one in Germany on June 2 according to Vitali Klitschko who holds the WBC world heavyweight championship.
Vitali Klitschko, 40, said last week that his victory over Chisora went unnoticed after his brother brutally knocked out Mormeck past weekend. On the other hand, David Haye, 31, has repetitively asked Vitali to face him and he insisted on it once again in a press conference recently. As of now, it seems like Vitali is all good with the competition and he wants to take on Haye once and for all.
Last week, June 2 was announced as the date for both the top-notch fighters to collide, however no venue was decided until then. Now, recent updates suggest Vitali will go head to head with Haye in Germany possibly at Bundesliga Football Clubs’ stadium this year.
David Haye just escaped a lifetime ban after his barehanded bout with Dereck Chisora following Chisora’s defeat to Vitali. Things had gone ugly between Chisora and the Klitschko brothers when he slapped Vitali a day before the bout in a face-off photography session and spat water on his younger brother Wladimir’s face before the bout in the ring. In the post-bout press conference, Chisora showed signs of aggression just when Haye jumped in to make it worse. Both the fighters started throwing punches at each other injuring several others around them. For the act, Chisora received an indefinite time ban whereas Haye escaped the board.
For now, Haye has reportedly claimed he is ready to take on Vitali and he will knock him out. However, according to most analysts and former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, Haye still has a long way to go before he can even think of fighting Vitali. In other words, if the bout happens between Vitali and Haye, Vitali would be the favourite. Vitali and his brother Wladimir have been ruling the heavyweight division for more than 5 years now and many analysts are of the view that they will remain invincible until retirement.
If Haye is able to beat Vitali, it will be the biggest win of his career.
