Vitali’s manager reveals Haye rejected their contract – Boxing News
While most fans want a fight between Haye and Vitali Klitschko, Bernd Boente, Vitali’s manager, has something else to say. In his recent interview, Boente revealed that an offer was made to Haye to fight Vitali, but Haye declined it.
When asked if a bout between Vitali and Haye is possible, Boente said, “There was a contract from us for (Haye) to fight Vitali in September but he chose to fight Chisora instead because it's an easier task. I think he never really wanted to fight Vitali.
The guy is always talking. He barks like a dog and he does that because he is mostly afraid. It is a freak show. It's tough for this sport. It's only for the money. This is the entertainment business, yes, but it should not be allowed. The only reason that
this fight is happening is because they fought each other in a press conference in Munich. It's absolutely ridiculous.”
As of now, Haye is scheduled to fight Dereck Chisora in July. The fight is being sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation and not by the BBBC (British Board of Boxing Control). Therefore, the BBBC has already warned officials against participating
in the event. According to the BBBC, anyone who participates in the event will have his license cancelled, including managers, fighters and promoters.
BBBC’s warning came in because Dereck Chisora is a banned fighter whose license was revoked earlier this year. Chisora made it a mark to acquire a fighting license from the Luxembourg Boxing Association, which was more like disregarding BBBC. Even the WBC
has taken a stand against the fight and has supported BBBC’s stance.
For now, Haye and Chisora are getting ready for their grudge match, which according to Boente is a ‘freak show’. Not only Boente, even his fighter Vitali thinks the same. In his last interview, when asked, Vitali termed the fight between Haye and Chisora
as a ‘freak show with freak rules’. Since Vitali has already beaten Chisora, he knows what Chisora’s capabilities are, and frankly he is not impressed with it.
Boente’s revelations have made it clear that a fight between Chisora and Vitali should not be expected anymore.
