Vitaliy Demyanenko eyes on taking top ten contenders – Boxing News
Undefeated welterweight pugilist Vitaliy Demyanenko is now eyeing to have a mega-fight with any of the top ten contenders. Vitaliy defeated Ayi Bruce last week with a unanimous decision and now plans on to get a title shot sometime soon.
Vitaliy, who currently stands with 20 wins, 0 loss and 12 knockouts in his portfolio, is looking forward to make it big in the world of boxing. In his recent interview, he sounded sure-footed when he said, “I’ve reached my goal of 20 wins and now I’m looking
at big fights against top 10 contenders. Once you’ve reached this level there are no easy fights. Knowing this, I’m determined to work harder in the gym and polish up my game as I move forward. I want to fight for a regional title by the end of this year and
hopefully get a title shot in 2013. I know I’ve got what it takes to become a world champion.”
After defeating Bruce, the Kazakh boxer, along with his camp, has become even more confident of his abilities. His promoter, Mario Yagobi iterated, “With his latest victory, Boxing360 is excited that Demyanenko is in position to challenge every big name
in the 147-pound division.”
His promoter further said that today welterweight is one of the hottest divisions in boxing and there are a lot of potential fights for Vitaliy. He added that this is the time Vitaliy should capitalize on his 20th win to get a mega-fight soon.
According to Yagobi, Demyanenko has gone to his homeland but will be back soon to the training camp when he returns the US. He said that if everything goes the way they have planned then Vitaliy will have a fight soon.
Vitaliy is the son of the former 1980 Summer Olympics Silver Medalist in the lightweight division, Viktor Demyanenko.
In his previous interviews, Vitaliy has spoken about his dreams of becoming the welterweight champion. However, the path to that destination is quite tough. Currently Vitaliy is a promising fighter for now, but he needs to keep up his performance in order
to be an impressive bid for promoters.
