The sports minister has revealed that it is still too early to judge the new Russian Football Union’s president and has disliked the idea of organizing the CIS Championship
Though Vitaly Mutko refused to give negative remarks on Nikolai Tolstoy, who became the Russian Football Union’s president earlier this summer, the sports minister looked quite dissatisfied with the Russian national’s work and
decisions up till now.
And while Mutko was the one who made notable struggle in supporting Tolstoy in winning the presidential elections, the minister was asked to give his precious remarks on the development of Russian football in the first four months.
In an interview with the "Sport-Express", Mutko insisted that it is still too early to comment or even evaluate the work of the president, who has taken the charge barely four months ago.
"In many ways, I congratulate him that he eventually won. How to evaluate the first four months of his work? I do not know.”
“Yes, I supported Tolstoy from the list of all potential candidates in existence after I found out that he is the one with more football knowledge and understanding," the Russian politician was quoted as saying.
However, Mutko went on to insist that he is not ready to give a serious assessment of the president’s work so far, as he had too little time to really observe his decisions, actions and programs.
However, in saying this, Mutko did not hide his concern about the problems that have accumulated in domestic football.
"It is clear is that today there are certain hurdles in the development of Russian football. You can see a lot of negativity in the stadiums. I think now is the time to make decisive actions," he concluded.
Speaking on the decision to organize CIS Championship in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991, Mutko expressed his dissatisfaction and widely criticized the idea.
“I don’t see any motive for the creation of the CIS championship," the 54-year-old politician went on.
The idea for the new championship was given by Gazprom CEO, Alexei Miller, but Terek Grozny president, Khaider Alkhanov, called it as a crazy stunt and highlighted the people unpatriotic behind its creation.
