Vitaly Petrov says he still has a contract with Lotus-Renault – Formula 1 news
Renault driver Vitaly Petrov has said that it is quite clear to everyone that he has a contract with his current team until the end of the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Petrov’s future with Renault is maybe in doldrums after the recent outburst against the team, despite having a contract of one more year left with the team.
The Russian added that the world champion Kimi Raikkonen was asked to leave Formula 1 by Ferrari for a certain amount of money in the past. However, he stated that this is a world where anything is possible these days.
The team driver talked to the media and mentioned that unfortunately, he cannot say anything bad about his team, as he is bound by his contract. He still cannot speak against his team, but on the same side, he said he cannot stay silent anymore, as he suffered
a lot of things due to the team in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far.
In addition, he said that he has had enough of about his team and now, he cannot keep everything inside himself anymore.
Talking to reporters, he commented, “I haven't criticised the team despite losing out many times. How much have we lost in pitstops? How much have we lost with tactics? I can say that we have lost places in about ten races, if not more. But I couldn't say
that we lost places with the pitstops or tactics in an interview.”
The Enstone-based outfit driver further added that although they did not have competitive car this year, but they could still have scored more points during the races if they were right in terms of strategy.
The 27-year-old driver went on to mention, “We weren't able to compete with Red Bull, McLaren or Ferrari, but we were a lot faster than Mercedes. But for almost ten races, we had absolutely nothing new so we've basically been driving the same car that we
started the season with.”
The team driver had a good start to the ongoing season. He blamed the lack of his R31 car’s pace for his disappointing performance on the grid from the mid of the season.
He also mentioned that they looked very strong in the first five or six races of the season and after that, his car did not support them properly in the races.
Let’s see whether Petrov feels easy with Renault after outburst against the team or not.
