Vitaly Petrov thrilled to drive in his home town
The fans of the Russian driver, Vitaly Petrov of Renault, are happy and jubilant as the racer heads towards his homeland this weekend for a series of demonstrations in the streets and roads of the Russian capital, Moscow. The much anticipated annual City Racing Event is to be held amidst all the zeal and zest in the streets of Moscow in front of hundreds and thousands of race lovers.
The Renault driver will be driving the three seater Formula One car for the special event which will be the first opportunity for the driver to drive a Formula One car in his own country. What adds to the excitement are the other two passenger seats, which will give an opportunity to two lucky guests to experience the adventure in the special fast and furious Formula One car.
The race on 18th of July is to take place at the 4.5 km road built around Red Square which will serve as a temporary circuit. The most thrilling factor about the track is the opportunity that it provides to the spectators to view the flashing cars and hear their thundering roars from a very short distance, which is an extra treat for the fans of Moscow.
Before he leaves for Russia, Petrov talked to his fans saying that he felt thrilled as he heads towards his homeland. As this is the first chance for him to show his racing skills in the streets of his own city, he told that he is looking forward to having an electrifying crowd to support and cheer him. He further went on telling that he takes the moment as an excellent opportunity to thank his Russian fans who had supported and helped him immensely all through the year; therefore he will try to put forward a great racing show for them this weekend.
Among other plans that he had lined up during his visit to the native city, he also plans to visit a Bridgestone event this Friday and later on Saturday he is to give an appearance at the GUM, the biggest departmental store of Moscow, for a photo and autograph session.
Later on Saturday Petrov is scheduled to partake in a go-kart race at Volgogradsky Prospect which will give a great opportunity to test the driving skills of the driver before the final event. It will be very thrilling for the local Russian drivers who will get a chance to race against a Formula One driver.
After the final day of the event the Renault driver plans to give a visit to Lada’s headquarters in Togliatti, on Monday morning.
For Renault Roadshow, this is their third visit to Russia for the Moscow City Racing event and the first one with their current Russian driver, Vitaly Petrov. The first time the team went to Moscow for the event was in the year 2005 and the event proved a great success for them. Also the team has had an amazing time last year as they staged their cars on the streets of Sochi amidst all the roars and cheers of the crowd. Now, having teamed up with a Russian racer the team hopes to have an even bigger welcome and support from the crowd of Moscow.
Also, Petrov is immensely thrilled and excited to have the first experience of driving among his fellow citizens. All his fans wish to see a great racing spectacle as he heads for his home town. Hope the driver has a great time there as he would be flying straight to Germany for the next Grand Prix on upcoming weekend.
