Vitamin A, daily dosage

i use nature's bounty vitamin tablets which recommends 3 tablets a day.but its total dosage of vitamin A is 5000 IU(adds to daily intake of this vitamin with food) .will that be excess dosage of vitamin A?

How much is safe dosage for adult female

PS : excess vitamin A causes hair loss, now how much is excess?

  1. Go to Nutrition Express and look on their Vitamin A and see what they reccomend. They are really up on all that and they have a great catalog and great prices too.  Sounds like too much....it builds up in the body too. some do like D, but calcium is not so you have to really be aware of what you take....they tell you and have them all in a packet if you are really neding help.   2. No, that's perfectly fine. The RDA (which is 5,000 IU) is the basic daily minimum for basic health... optimal health is normally around 10,000 IU, but some people take more based on their needs.

    As far as hair loss, you would need to take more than 15-20,000 IU of Vitamin A (straight Vitamin A, not Beta Carotene) to overdo Vitamin A where you would need to worry about your hair. In fact, proper amounts of Vitamin A can actually help your hair by nourishing your hair follicles.
