  1. Yes - IU stands for International Units. Each pill is 8000 International Units - so you may have to take 3, which will bring you close to what you want to take. (25000 IU)

  2. IU means international units

  3. The ER nurse is right and moreover international units means that it is a measure of volume as how liquids are measured and milligrams are measured by wight.

I know you will see Vitamin A or E in multi-vitamins in pill form, but when measured they are measured by volume using international units because they are oils.

Now it's important that you add up all supplements of Vitamin A you are taking and don't go over 25,000 IUs as that's the daily limit. So if you take a multi and fish oil you need to take partial doses of each to not go over 25,000 IUs as more can damage your liver.

FYI Salmon oil has the most amount of fatty acids per gram so you get more fatty acids for the amount of Vitamin A per serving.

Write me with any questions and good Luck!
