  1. According to Balch & Balch and Linus Pauling, yes.

  2. Taking vitamin C does not boost your immune system.  Several studies show that vitamin C does not reduce the severity of a cold, nor does it make it go away faster.  It also has not been shown to prevent colds.

  3. YES.

Sodium Ascorbate is one of the best forms of vitamin C to take daily as a maintenance dose. When you are ill[cold, flu, measles, even poisonous spider bite!] you take the Vit C to bowel tolerance.

The reason Sodium Ascorbate is so good is Ascorbic Acid[the common form of Vit C] is acidic and can upset your stomach over time. Salt is also needed to use vitamin C, something to do with the electrons[I'm nursing a baby, but I'll try and find a source later! xD] So Sodium Ascorbate is perfect, non acidic, and contains the salt/sodium necessary to use the Vit C.

Vit C also gathers up all those 'free radicals' in our bodies.[antioxidant]

"Unlike most animals that produce their own Vitamin C, the human body does not synthesize any. Whether for general immunity boosting or for the treatment of a specific condition, one requires more Vitamin C than our contemporary diet supplies. The amount of vitamin C you take daily determines its effectiveness. 60 mg per day is the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance for adults). This is easily obtained from fresh fruits and vegetables. 500 mg to 5 gm (grams) per day has proven to be beneficial in the prevention of colds, and general immunity boosting. However, Vitamin C dosage of over 1 gm can realistically only be obtained through supplements. "

  4. Yes, it's nature's own antibiotic - fights infection and builds resistance against disease.

  5. Vitamin C boosts your immune system and the Vitamin C Foundation actually recommends 3 gm per day (3,000 mg).  Most health authorities recommend a lot less but the late Dr Linus Pauling actually recommended 5 gm per day but he seemed to be obsessed with vitamin C.

You should never take more than 1,000 mg of vitamin C in a single dose so if you want to take 2,000 mg per day it has to be 1,000 mg twice a day.

Besides vitamin C the natural antibiotics colloidal silver and garlic oil also boost your immune system.

  6. Vitamin C along with a good diet and stress control will help to keep your body's defense mechanism in top shape. Eat oranges and use fresh lemon juice in tea or on a salad. Eating your vitamins through your food IS THE ONLY REAL WAY to stay healthy.

Yes, we sometimes are busy and don't take care of ourselves. Taking a vitamin will not counteract that.

  7. probably
