  1. Great website, very informative

Vitamin D is hard to find in everyday foods and prevents many diseases and problems. For example, you might have thyroid problems if you lack vitamin D. That's what my ex-friend had.

  2. i don't know but i just saw on the news that we should take it every day because we really cant get enough from food, you mostly get it from the sun, and most Americans are deficient in it.    I do remember them saying that it helps protect us from different cancers

  3. There are a lot of benefits man, you wouldn't be sitting reading this mail if you lacked some good amount of vitamin D. Your bones get weak and you'd have a problem of using your body parts as accurately as supposed to be. Man don't pray to have that deficiency, always sunbath especially in the morning. The morning sun is a good source of vitamin D.

  5. You need Vitamin D for bones and skin, but you don't need to get it from milk.  You will produce your own vitamin D if you get enough sunshine.  Vitamin D is fat soluble so you can store it for many months without becoming deficient.

  6. from the top of my head, it's basically a vitamin which helps strengthen your body e.g bones and such. also can help with calcium absorption.

good sources of vitamin D include:

    eggs, milk and oily fish.

natural sunlight also causes you skin to synthesize vitamin D production. but sitting under a lamp at home won't boost your D levels up!!

  7. In a nutshell:

    - Prevents bone loss

    - Reduces fracture risk

    - Lowers blood pressure

    - Reduces occurence of breast/prostate/bowel cancer

    - Reduces risk of a variety of cancer/disease

  8. Vitamin D a group of fat-soluble prohormones, is a nutrient that helps the body use & absorb calcium and phosphorus and make strong bones and teeth. Several forms (vitamers) of vitamin D have been discovered, the two major forms of which are vitamin D2 (or ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (or cholecalciferol). Vitamin D2 is derived from fungal and plant sources, while vitamin D3 is derived from animal sources and is also produced from our bodies when exposed to ultraviolet light. Most vegans will obtain sufficient vitamin D providing they spend time outdoors on bright days. Vitamin D2 sources include vegetable oils & margarines, some milk substitutes (such as soy, rice, & hemp), spirulina, fortified cereals & breads. Mushrooms also provide over 2700 IU per serving (approx. 3 oz or 1/2 cup) of vitamin D2, if exposed to just 5 minutes of UV light after being harvested.
