Question:

Vitamins, herbs, etc. for pain relief?

I'm wondering if there are any "alternative medicines" for pain relief, other than narcotics or over the counter meds. Other than the obvious "green stuff" that has yet to become legal. That works great, just not worth getting in trouble for!

This is for back pain. So, if anyone has tried any alternative drugs for this let me know. Thanks for your input.

  1. The first I would recommend is White Willow Bark. But it may take a day or so for it to build up in your system to work well. The first day or two take four to five capsules a day, then you can back off and get the same effect with two or three capsules a day. They are not habit forming, won't cause ulcers or circulation problems, and work very well WITH your body. Another pain reliever is Malic Acid. Malic Acid is to apples what citric acid is to oranges. Malic is a great pain reliever! Use it the same way you'd use Willow Bark. Also Capsacian Creme works well on muscle pain. But be aware that after rubbing it in you must wash your hands very well as it may sting your eyes if you rub them with it on your hands.

  2. White Willow Bark is a pain killer, but it's practically just aspirin.   It seems to be less irritating to the stomach, but there haven't been any extensive studies done to prove that.

  3. High quality essential oils!

You need only a few drops applied to the spine followed by a massage oil.  Wintergreen helps soothe inflammation, Peppermint is also an excellent pain reliever. Marjoram helps muscle spasms. Cypress is good for the circulation.

Essential oils work on your body in so many different ways. Not only can they help get more oxygen to the muscles and tissue, they may help relax you and influence underlying emotional issues.

  4. Acupuncture have helped for back pain. Most of the doctors don't recommend acupuncture because there is not enough evidence but test on a small number of people have proved that acupuncture helps in back pain.
