I am a college student, and I know i do not eat as healthily as I should. I have tried at least 3 different brands of 'one-a-day' type vitamins, but they make me sick. and it isn't necessarily because they are huge; I usually dont get sick until about an hour after taking them.

.....whats going on??

  1. Most vitamins have artificial additives or fillers of some sort which can make it hard for the body to tolerate.  Also, manufacturers are not required to list all ingredients on the label.  I take all natural Vita-Lea and have never had a problem with it.  You might want to give it a try.

  2. do they have zinc in them?  That always made my daughter sick.  So she now takes prenatal vitamins, even though she is not  pregnant, she has the prettiest nails and hair.

  3. U & me 2,  I take them just once or twice a week and that seems to be okay with me, but every day I cannot do.  They should invent "0ne-a-week" brand.

  4. Some people are very sensitive to iron in the pills. (My wife is; if she takes a multivitamin with iron, it makes her sick. So she takes a multivitamin without iron.)

There might be something else in the pill you're sensitive to. Some people are sensitive to B vitamins. The side effect there often is a feeling of being flushed/hot. Many of the other things in the pills are generally harmless and well-tolerated--Vitamins A, C, D, E, etc.

So, initially, try a multivitamin without iron. Also, take the vitamin on a full stomach. You say you do take them with breakfast, which is fine. Just take them after you've eaten breakfast.

    Hope that helps.

  5. You need to eat something with them.

  6. try taking with breakfast

  7. You might do better with liquid form

  8. You might get your iron checked.  I can't take regular vitamins because my iron is high anyway then u add the iron in the multi-vitamin and for some reason it makes me sick at my stomach and messes with my cycles.  I'm fine with the senior ones though that don't have it in them.  Doctors find it weird, too, but it's the only explanation.  If I were you I'd just go to a doctor and get a blood test to see if you're getting something you don't need.

  9. I have always not felt well after taking vitamins, too! I have the best luck taking them before bed. I know you're supposed to take them in the morning with food, but I think taking them at night is better than not taking them at all!

Kudos to you for doing something for your health!!

  10. try taking them with diner and or a glass of milk. or try eating 1/2 your meal and then the vitamins, then rest of meal.be careful not to over load on them, ask your doctor.
