Question:

Vitamins that change your skin colour?

I was watching a episode of the medical drama "House", and there was a guy who had a skin ailment in which he was "orange".

The diagnosis was "too much vitamin intake".

My question is, Are there vitamins if taken in excess can change your skin colour and specifically what ones or foods?

  1. Too much niacin will cause "flushing" which turns the skin red for a short time.

  2. The only thing i can think of is Carotene, which is a mineral, i think, related to vitamin A, it turns you orange but is hamless

  3. "One common cause is overeating of dietary items that contain orange-colored beta-carotene (e.g. pumpkins, carrots) and this often causes orange skin from carotenemia... "

I think this is the only one that can change the skin color.
