Vitantonio Liuzzi: I am looking forward to putting in a good performance in Singapore – Formula 1
Hispania Racing Team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi has said that he is looking forward to putting in a good performance at the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix, which will take place on September 25, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Liuzzi added that he is sure that the Singapore GP will be an interesting race weekend for teams and viewers due to the nature of the Marina Bay Circuit.
Talking to reporters, Liuzzi commented, “The guys have been working hard back home to arrive in Singapore with some new upgrades that will help us in our fight with our closest rivals. With the lighting system at the Marina Bay Street Circuit it feels like
you’re driving at midday so the fact that it is held at night doesn’t affect the racing.”
He added, “It would make things different if it rained, with the reflection of the lights in the water, but for us it shouldn’t be a big difference. After what happened in Monza I’m looking forward to putting in a good performance in Singapore.”
The Spanish squad plans to deliver some new upgrades to their F111 car for the 2011 Singapore race weekend. However, the team principal Colin Kolles told the media that both of the drivers Liuzzi and Daniel Ricciardo will test some aero updates during the
Friday Practice session at the Marina Bay circuit next weekend.
Kolles hopes both of their cars will finish the race on the grid in Singapore. However, he stated that they can beat their closest rivals, which included Team Lotus and Virgin Racing Team in the upcoming Grand Prix.
HRT have not been able to perform well on the grid since the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season. They are still at the same position where they were at the start of the championship battle.
The team driver Liuzzi failed to stay at the Monza racetrack until the end of the Grand Prix. Due to having an accident at the first corner of circuit, he had to retire from the race.
