Vitantonio Liuzzi aiming to beat Team Lotus in the remainder of 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi is aiming to beat Team Lotus in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Liuzzi has said that they would love to beat Lotus in the 2011 championship battle, but he knows that it will be a really tough task for them.
The Spanish team got a below par start in the ongoing season and they are still unable to perform well on the grid in the season.
The 30-year-old driver also stated that they will have to be realistic during their next races if they have an aim to beat Lotus. In addition, he mentioned that he must be competitive in the upcoming race weekend of the ongoing season in order to finish
this season with positive results.
Talking to reporters, Liuzzi said, “A lot of people didn't believe we would come through at the beginning of the year but I have always been really positive. As I have said on many occasions, there are good people involved in this project and the potential
is there.”
The Italian driver went on to mention, “I never doubted that there was potential for improvement, obviously we are not expecting to win races but to be where we are already is proof of the strength of the project. If you believe in yourself and in the project
then you can achieve anything.”
Liuzzi discussed with the media that the team are on the same point, as they were at the start of the season. He said that they must focus on their good position in the 2011 constructor’s championship and make improvements in terms of performance in the
last eight rounds of the season.
HRT have improved their pace in the season so far as compared to their competitors, which included Lotus and Virgin.
In the Hungarian Grand Prix, Liuzzi came at the 20th place in the final race classifications, while his teammate Daniel Ricciardo finished his race ahead of Virgin’s Jerome d’Ambrosio, who was in the 19th spot
at the Hungaroring race circuit.
HRT's F111 car is still unable to run well on the grid in the ongoing season. Liuzzi admitted that his car was not supportive for him during the races in the season so far.
On the other hand, his teammate Ricciardo is aiming to perform well for his current team in the remainder of the season. He stated that he can beat Virgin and his teammate Liuzzi in the rest of this season if he puts all of his efforts during the next races.
Let’s see whether HRT manage to overtake Team Lotus in the 2011 constructors’ championship or not.
