Vitantonio Liuzzi certain for his Force India seat in 2011
The Force India driver, Vitantonio Liuzzi has dismissed all the stories regarding any discussions with the team for a financial settlement.
There have been rumours in the media for the past couple of days that the Indian team has decided to terminate the contract of Liuzzi with the team. The reports further said that the team has decided to enter the 2011 Formula One season with the team’s old
driver, Adrian Sutil while Paul di Resta was reported to be seen behind the other Force India wheel. However, the Italian driver talked to the reporters earlier today brushing off all such speculations. He insisted that he already has a deal with the team
for the upcoming season and so far there have been no signals from the team for dismissing the contract.
The Silverstone based team has so far not given the final word over its next year’s drivers’ line-up and the drivers’ list released by FIA last month read ‘TBA’( to be announced) in front of the Force India drivers. However, some newspapers as well as leading
websites declared earlier this week that di Resta and Sutil will be the lead drivers while Nico Hulkenberg will act as the Friday test driver in the Indian squad.
While explaining all this to the media, the 29-year-old said this morning, "My situation is clear. Force India hasn't informed me about any change and for me only the words of the team count."
As per the early rumours it was said that the driver is nowadays settling his amount with the team so that the contract can be withdrawn. Some other sources even said that Liuzzi is holding discussions with Mercedes to reserve a seat for him in the DTM championship.
However, Liuzzi completely denied both the stories calling them rubbish.
He insisted that no offer has been made by the team to him, which means that the team has not yet thought of anything like this. He also added that in any case he will prefer staying in the team instead of making a bargain. He believes that there is no use
talking about all this, since the team is yet to come up with an official statement regarding this matter.
He concluded saying, "But so far I wasn't offered anything -- neither money nor a seat in DTM, as I read elsewhere. They didn't tell me such things, for sure. I'm pretty calm, because I have a very clear deal with the team for the 2011 season and if they
should decide to take other routes, they know what they are facing.”
