Vitantonio Liuzzi not willing to ‘buy’ a seat at Hispania Racing Team – Formula 1 news
Former Force India driver Vitantonio Liuzzi recently stated that he is not willing to ‘pay’ in order to secure a full season drive at Hispania Racing Team anytime soon.
It was recently revealed that he is in talks with HRT as he was unable to retain his seat with Force India for another season despite the fact that he had a contract with them that was valid until the end of 2011. He has been replaced by the team’s 2010
reserve driver Paul di Resta as the team believes that Paul has been performing extremely well.
Other than that, Force India decided to keep Adrian Sutil for another year and it seems that the team made the right decision. Force India are one of the rising teams of the sport and since they are in their rising stage, new and talented drivers like Paul
and Adrian are going to help the team establish and resolve their reliability issues.
Nevertheless, since it was revealed that the team favoured Narain Karthikeyan mainly due to the financial support and a major sponsor he brought with him for the team, it is believed that the team might ask for a similar favour from Tonio as well.
“They would prefer a driver that brings money I guess, but it's not my case because I've never done it and I cannot start now. I bring my experience, my speed and I do my best for the team, that's for sure,” Tonio told the media.
However, one has to agree that HRT are in desperate need of experienced drivers as they are not doing pretty well at the moment. HRT became a part of Formula 1 in 2010 and they were unable to score a single point throughout the season. However, one cannot
blame them as the other two new teams that were introduced in 2010, Lotus Racing Team and Virgin Racing Team were unable to secure a single point throughout the 2010 season either.
“They're talking and looking quite good with some sponsors, so there could be good potential to increase the budget of the team and the development of the team for sure,” said Liuzzi.
It is believed that they are going to perform much better in 2011 than they did in 2010 as the team now has better finances and they are mentally prepared for what Formula 1 has in store for them in the upcoming season.
Nevertheless, Tonio also believes that HRT are going to be more competitive in 2011 without a doubt and it is expected that the team would announce its second full season driver in a couple of weeks. It is believed that it is probably going to be Tonio Liuzzi.
