Vitantonio Liuzzi says Hispania Racing team could impress in Spain – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing team driver, Vitantonio Liuzzi, has said that his team could impress a few of their viewers, if they can get the most out of their new updates at the up-coming Spanish race weekend.
The team had a very poor start to the 2011 season, as they failed to qualify in Australia, after the team did not run in the winter testing of this season with their new car. However, it is right to say that HRT has been catching-up, since the first Melbourne
race of the ongoing season. The side has also been close to the Virgin Racing team at the back of the F1 grid and also, is no longer under threat from the 107 percent rule’s time.
Liuzzi said that the Spanish Grand Prix was going to be a sign of real pecking order of the drivers. The Italian driver added that Barcelona’s race is the best opportunity for the team to show the fans and world that HRT is putting a lot of their efforts
into the team for future and that they are on the right path for success.
He went on to mention, “Barcelona is also an important race because we're at a stage in the Championship where you start to see the real pace of all the teams as pretty much everyone has some upgrades and you can judge better everyone's pace.”
The 29-year-old driver also said that HRT was always starting their race at the end on the grid due to the lack of pre-season running. If the team delivers all of their planned upgrades to the cars, then they could surprise a few of their fans in the remaining
season.
Liuzzi, while speaking to the media said, “Unfortunately, we weren't able to test as much as we wanted here in winter that's why every race is a great test for us. If we're able to get all the updates we were planning then I think we'll make a big step forward
and might even impress quite a few people.”
The team has to focus on all parts of their car in future races, as they did not test it and lost their time in winter. He continued that according to his point of view, everything is going in the right direction for his team. He believes that if they keep
working and progressing in their races, as HRT has done until now, then they would have a bright future in the sport.
The Hispania Racing team is hopeful that Spanish Grand Prix’s upgrades will bring some improvements in their running. The race will take place on May 22, at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Barcelona.
