Vitantonio Liuzzi wants to stay at Hispania Racing Team for another year – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team’s Vitantonio Liuzzi has recently stated that he does not want to switch his team for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
This means that he wants to stay with HRT despite the fact that the team is going through another disappointing season and their chances of improving their performance are really low for 2012 as well.
Liuzzi drove for Force India back in 2010 and in 2011, he has not been able to help HRT in terms of statistics. As a result, they are currently in the tail end of the constructors’ standings alongside Team Lotus and Virgin Racing Team.
The Italian driver believes that HRT will be more competitive in 2012 though and they are going to bring about some major developments in order to improve their respective performance.
“We will definitely be more competitive (in 2012). The change in the team owner delayed the progress I had hoped for this season, but the very important background work for the next car has been significantly better. Being with a young team and growing with
it is one of the most satisfying things for a driver and I am not planning to be somewhere else,” said Liuzzi.
Other than that, he believes that Fernando Alonso is still the best driver despite the fact that Sebastian Vettel is about to win his second world title in a row.
“I definitely think Alonso is still the best and, if not the best, then the most complete. I think he's doing a very good job at Ferrari in taking his car to the very limit,” he added.
The main thing about Formula 1 nowadays is that the drivers must have a good car as well in order to secure a good result. Since Ferrari have not been able to deliver a good car since 2010, Alonso has not been able to cope up with Vettel which is the main
reason why he has not been able to defeat him.
