I've had this Vitapur water dispenser sitting around a while and the water tastes kind of moldy. It was sitting there without use for about 5 months, so something must have grown in there. I thought it was something in the plastic bottle, but I got a new one, refilled, and smell is still there. Since then i've used distilled vinegar mixed with water to clean it out (both hot & cold spouts) but the bad taste is still there. Is there anyway I can neutralize this aweful smell?

  1. yea you can use water [hot] twice everyday [worked with me]

  2. I don't know if this would work, but I'd try " Dip-It" , which is in the coffee aisle.  It's made to clean out the lime deposits from coffee pots.  You add it to water and run it through the pot ... maybe you could put it in the pitcher?

  3. Unless it is super expensive , toss it . I had a pur filter do the same thing and nothing cleared it. If it is mold it could be very bad to drink the water not worth it. If you don't want to toss it, then try diluted bleach sloution soak in hot and I mean hot water til the water cools then do a rinse soak for hour then try, if still the taste, toss it.
