Vitesse Arnhem want Steve McClaren to be their new coach – Dutch Eredivisie news
Former England and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede manager, Steve McClaren, is on the verge of making a comeback to Dutch top flight with Vitesse Arnhem. The 50-year-old is looking to replace Albert Ferrer, who failed to guide Vitesse to a respectable finish in his debut
season.
The Englishman was previously linked with a move to Twente, where the tactician had an exceptional two-season spell. Moreover, he guided the Tukkers to their first ever Eredivisie title in 2009/10 season. However, the English trainer realises that after
his successful first term, he has everything to lose. Consequently, he has set his sights on Vitesse, who managed to avoid relegation on goal difference in the recently concluded 2010/11 season.
“Why would he go back to Twente? He cannot do better what he did. It can only go one way.” Sources in the British media have quoted the manger as saying.
Reports in Dutch media suggest that the 50-year-old tactician would be given a 50 million Euro transfer budget to guide the Arnhem-based outfit out into title contention in the coming seasons.
The outfit from Arnhem were taken over by Georgian businessman, Merab Jordania, last summer. Jordania is reportedly a close friend of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC Owner, Roman Abramovich. Needless to say, the new owner has set his ambitions to invest heavily in the club and
transform the outfit into a force to be reckoned with.
For those in England, it might be a surprising move should McClaren join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905, as the 50-year-old was earlier seeking a move to either West Ham or Aston Villa FC.
The English trainer has been looking for new home since his dismissal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 managerial hot seat. Pundits suggest that the former England manager should join the Tukkers, where he can rebuild his reputation, but it seems like that the 50-year-old
has set his sights on a move to GelreDome Arnhem for next season.
