Vitesse Arnhem’s John van den Brom pleased with 2-0 win over SBV Excelsior – Dutch Eredivisie news
Vitesse Arnhem registered their first away win of the season when they cruised to an easy 2-0 win over SBV Excelsior at Stadion Woudestein on Sunday, September 25. John van den Brom, the Vitesse head coach, was pleased with his side’s performance on the
pitch away from home.
The Dutch trainer has revealed that his troops played a bit selfish and wasted many goalscoring opportunities, but also expressed his contentment over the first away win.
“If they had granted each other more, this victory could have been higher. But I am happy with the first away win”, Van den Brom said while talking to the media.
The outfit from Arnhem commenced the match brightly and threatened the home side’s back-line regularly in the opening half. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicky-Hofs-c27732 pass found Wilfried Bony at the edge of the box, who raced into the area before hitting the back of the net in the 12th minute.
Ten minutes later, the Ivorian ace doubled the lead with a neat strike from the edge of the area. The home side had a chance to pull one back through Roland Alberg, but the midfielder’s shot went wide of the target.
At the half time interval, the score-line read 0-2 in favour of the outfit from Arnhem.
After the break, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 created a number of goalscoring opportunities, but failed to increase their lead further. Bony had an opportunity to complete his hat-trick very early in the second-half, but the striker failed to hit the target.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giorgi-Chanturia-c14929 shoud have added his name to the score-sheet in the 73rd
minute when Davy Propper’s cross found him unmarked at the far post. However, he failed to send the ball into the net, his effort only rattling the post.
The Ivorian striker was again involved in action when he put Chanturia through one-on-one with the Kralingers goalkeeper, but he failed yet again to hit the target and his shot sailed over the bar.
Leen van Steensel had a chance to score a consolation goal in the injury time, but Vitesse goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Piet-Velthuizen-c30016 kept out his effort from the edge of the area with ease. When the referee blew the final whistle, the score-line read 0-2 in favour of the
visitors.
Excelsior manager John Lammers was disappointed with the result and admitted that his side displayed poor football despite being at home.
“We started too weak. I'm disappointed. We must work hard and then we can win”, Lammers said while talking to journalists.
