The former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder has insisted that his side will try their level best to emerge victorious against NEC Nijmegen in the first round of Europa League play-offs.

The two sides will meet at McDOS Goffertstadion in the first-leg on Thursday, May 10.
The Dutch trainer has, though, insisted that his side wants to make amends of their 1-0 league defeat at the hands of the Nijmegen outfit earlier this season.
However, he has made it clear that his side is not heading into the game with revenge on their mind, as their real ambition is to qualify for the Europe’s second tier competition.
“Of course, we all still remember the last match against NEC, which we lost 1-0 at GelreDome. However, if we only seek revenge then we will lean away from our real goal, which is to play in the Europa League next season”, Van den
Brom was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The 45-year-old tactician, who took over the managerial hot seat at GelreDome Stadion in the summer of 2011, has led his side to impressive results to finish seventh on the Eredivisie table.
Van den Brom was all praise for his side’s hard work, and has expressed confidence that they can earn Europa League ticket by winning the play-offs.
“I think it’s an excellent performance put in by all the players to finish seventh. The teams that finished above us were far superior I guess. Not surprising, as they were all competing for the title. Now, we have to focus on
winning the play-offs and I think any team can qualify for the competition next season, every club has the same chance”, Van den Brom concluded.
The Dutch mentor would be hoping that his side manages to emerge victorious in the two-legged encounter against NEC, and progress through to the next round of the play-offs. However, the Dutchman knows that it will not be an easy
task to topple Alex Pastoor’s NEC.
