The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/ADO-Den-Haag-c38221 manager has admitted that the Belgian outfit’s interest was flattering, but has made it clear that he does not want to leave the Arnhem outfit.
For the last couple of weeks, reports in Dutch and Belgian media have been speculating that John van den Brom would be leaving Vitesse Arnhem to coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RSC-Anderlecht-c40394 before the start of the 2012/13 campaign.
However, the 45-year-old tactician has now mooted all such rumours and has stressed that he does not intend to leave the Arnhem outfit at this point.
The Dutch trainer, who took over the managerial hot seat at GelreDome Stadion in the summer of 2011, had a fantastic debut season in Arnhem. The former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder managed to guide his side to seventh place finish
on the Eredivisie table, and then managed to book UEFA Europa League berth by winning the play-offs.
His impressive showings attracted interest from the Belgian Pro League champions. The Purple & White are in search of a new manager following the resignation of Ariel Jacobs, and see the former De Graafschap player as a perfect
candidate for the coaching http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
Some reports in Belgian and Dutch media have started to claim that Van den Brom will join the Sporting ahead of the 2012/13 season, as the tactician is having a troublesome time with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 president, Merab Jordania.
However, the Dutch mentor has now made it clear that he will not be leaving his current club to coach the Belgian giants, though, he open heartedly admitted that it was flattering that the Paars-wit management approached him.
“It is flattering a club the size of Anderlecht have shown interest. At the same time there were stories circulating that (club president) Merab Jordania was not happy with my work. We have talked about it and he has denied it.
So for me it's sorted - I'm sticking with Vitesse. My heart lies there”, Van den Brom was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
The Arnhem outfit’s faithful fans can now certainly have a sigh of relief, as their manager is staying put for at least another season.
