The former Jong Ajax midfielder desires to join the newly promoted English Premier League outfit, and hopes that the Eredivisie outfit will reach an agreement at the earliest with Nigel Adkins’ side.

The 23-year-old is a product of Ajax Amsterdam youth academy, but opted to start his career at Vitesse in the 2008/09 season.
The talented Dutchman, who can play at any position down the left side of the field, has thus far represented the Arnhem outfit in well over 100 Eredivisie matches.
Vitesse finished seventh on the league table in the 2011/12 campaign, and Buttner was undoubtedly instrumental in his side’s impressive league finish.
His good performances have garnered him interest from several European clubs including Fulham, QPR and the Saints from the English top tier while German Bundesliga outfit, Werder Bremen, are also said to be his keen admirer.
Buttner has been in Southampton to get a feel of the club, and has reportedly expressed his delight with the atmosphere at St. Mary’s Stadium.
The Dutchman has confirmed that he would like to join the newly promoted English Premier League outfit, and has insisted that it will certainly prove to be a fruitful move for his career.
“I want to go to Southampton. I'm waiting on the clubs to reach an agreement, but I'm counting on Vitesse. It will be a big blow for me if this transfer won't work out. I've been in Southampton and everything over there is perfect”,
Buttner was quoted as saying to De Telegraaf.
The versatile midfielder went on to confess that the club has big ambitions and wants to follow in the footsteps of Manchester City.
“The club, the stadium, the way I've been received over there were all really surprising. Southampton have got big ambitions. With a new moneylender they want to follow Manchester City”, Buttner concluded.
The Dutchman has an ongoing contract at GelreDome Stadion that runs until the summer of 2013. However, reports indicate that Vitesse will cash in on their star player if an offer in the region of five million Euros comes in this
summer.
