The former Yokohama F. Marinos striker has done well since arriving at GelreDome from Ventforet Kofu earlier this year and played an integral role in his side’s seventh place finish on Eredivisie table.
Vitesse Arnhem striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mike-Havenaar-c25700, is one of the most valuable attacking assets of Japan. The 25-year-old struggled to find his feet early on in his career at Yokohama F. Marinos, failing to score any goal in 26 matches.
However, the Japanese hit-man managed to make rapid developments to his game and went on to enjoy successful loan spells at Avispa Fukuoka, Sagan Tosu before moving to Ventforet Kofu at the start of 2010.
During his two-year stint at Yamanashi Chuo Bank Stadium Kofu, Havenaar managed to add his name to the score-sheet 37 times in 63 matches. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 were impressed with his performances and managed to acquire his services on a two-and-a-half-year
deal, earlier this year.
The Japanese ace, who has netted five goals in 12 Eredivisie matches while representing the Arnhem outfit, has revealed that he is enjoying his stay in Netherlands.
“I really like Arnhem as a city, and it took just six months for me to feel at home here, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Japan-c2928 is where my roots are”, Havenaar was quoted as saying to FIFA.com.
The attacker went on to stress that football played in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 is different from Japan, but feels that it took him very little time to acclamitise to the conditions in Dutch football.
“The intensity involved in winning the ball and the speed of the game has been the two areas where I’ve had to adapt the most. To get better, I still need to work on those aspects of my game. Football is really quite different
here, and it takes time to adjust. I’d hoped to play more often and score more goals. I’ve still got work to do to get to where I’d like to be. Playing professional football was always a dream and ambition of mine”, Havenaar concluded.
The Japanese forward has an ongoing contract at GelreDome that runs until the summer of 2014. He would be hoping to continue his impressive form for the Arnhem outfit before making a dream move to one of the elite European clubs.
