Vitor Belfort: I want to make a fight that interests the public – UFC News
In a recent interview, Vitor Belfort evinced his disappointment over the way UFC has been using him. According to Belfort, even though he lost to Anderson Silva, he still believes that one defeat should not ruin his impeccable career.
Belfort expressed his desire of fighting the top-notch fighters of the industry such as Michael Bisping, Silva and Jon Jones. He added, “I only want that my next bout accredits me to dispute the belt. I don't know, maybe Michael Bisping. I was only defeated
once recently, by Anderson Silva, and all my wins were very convincing.”
Recently, Belfort wanted to go forward and fight Wanderlei Silva but he was not given the chance due to an injury. Talking about the chances he can get in the industry, he added, “I think I deserve this chance for my legacy. Some fighters are like: 'Ah,
the guy who has the belt is my friend, I don't want him'. Well, I want it. I want to make a fight that interests the public. I already am in the end of my career, so I want to do one more fight and go for the belt. Joe Rogan spoke with me that it makes all
sense, unless Hector Lombard wins very well over Tim Boetsch. And Lorenzo Fertitta told me that I would dispute the title if I had beat Wanderlei.”
When asked about his future in the division, Belfort said he is not sure of his future in the division but he still wants to do three more fights against the top fighters. According to Vitor, he will stay in the division for as long as his body permits him
and then he will move up to 205lbs. He added that he is not afraid of Jon Jones or anyone else and therefore he wants to take on the best fighter in the division.
For now, Vitor Belfort believes that his career’s only defeat against Anderson Silva should not be the scale to measure his potential. According to him, just one defeat should not dictate others to put him down.
