Vitor Belfort getting in shape to face Anthony Johnson at UFC 142 – UFC News
Two famous middleweight fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will lock hands in January 2012.
At UFC 142 Brazilian mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Vitor Belfort will go against American MMA fighter Anthony Johnson. Their bout is set for UFC 142 which will take place in Brazil on January 14, 2012.
The 34-year-old Belfort is focused on his next fight which can probably give him a Middleweight Championship fight if he comes out victorious. According to reports, Belfort has been training hard to keep himself in shape. Belfort first became UFC Light Heavyweight
Champion in January 2004 at UFC 46 where he defeated UFC legend Randy Couture. He could not hold the title for long as in his very next fight against Randy Couture, which was a rematch, Belfort lost the title. This fight took place at UFC 49 in August 2004.
Later in his career, Belfort moved into the middleweight category and made his debut as in the weight class at Affliction event in July 2008, which was produced by Affliction Clothing and Adrenaline MMA.   With UFC 142 just right the corner, Belfort has
been training for a fight he thinks would determine the future of his MMA career. His opponent, the 27-year-old Johnson is also in the hunt to prove his worth but Belfort is getting his mind and body in shape for the big fight.
While talking about his mental and physical training Belfort expressed his views by saying that he is concentrating everyday on his health and fitness. He has been excited for the fight and also for his exercise schedules. He has vowed to make the best of
every day he is inside the gym so he can give more than a hundred percent.
UFC and MMA analysts have the view that Belfort will have support from his home crowd. On the other hand, some believe that Johnson can prove to be a tough opponent however Belfort’s higher experience will give him the chance to score a win.
Both fighters will enter UFC 142 with wins under their belt.  Belfort had a five fight winning streak before losing to Anderson Silva at UFC 126. He later won the fight at UFC 133 against Yoshihiro Akiyama and would want UFC 142 to give him a second straight
win. Johnson is already riding on a two fight streak and will aim at getting his third win in January 2012.
