Vittoriano Guareschi of Ducati hopes to see positive changes at Valencia GP – MotoGP news
Ducati Team manager Vittoriano Guareschi is hopeful to see positive changes at the MotoGP paddock with a sad memory of Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli’s death.
Super Sic is remembered by every rider and person present at the Valencia GP. His number is being carried by many riders, whereas Ducati rider Valentino Rossi will wear a replica Simoncelli helmet.
Guareschi said, “The Valencia Grand Prix will have a different atmosphere than normal because we've been thinking about Marco since Malaysia.”
“He'll be with us in Spain and beyond, but I think there will also be positive feelings in the paddock, because for Marco, racing equalled happiness, which is a concept that I understand very well,” Guareschi added on.
The Italian team manager also attended the funeral service of Simoncelli. Guareschi also said that Super Sic enjoyed racing and had a good potential to become a top star in the premier class.
The young Italian died during the Malaysian Grand Prix. He had a low side fall, but unfortunately instead of falling off, he hung on to his bike and veered in the way of Colin Edwards of Tech3 and Rossi.
Simoncelli tried to regain control of his Honda RC212V, but could not manage instantly. While he was struggling, Edwards hit him from back and rammed over his body.
Simultaneously, Rossi also hit the wreck but escaped uninjured from the accident. On the other hand, Edwards had a hard fall and sustained a dislocated shoulder with damaged cartilage.
While commenting on effort for race weekend Guareschi said, “That being the case, we'll do what we always have and do our best to provide Vale and Nicky with what they need to have a nice race. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday we'll take part in the test, and
we'll see the new-generation [1000cc] bikes together for the first time.”
The team manager is focused to give team’s best support to its both riders, Rossi and Nicky Hayden. It is every crucial for the Bologna factory team to finish the season with a good result.
Currently Rossi is ranked at seventh place just behind his late compatriot, Simoncelli. Both Italians had a points tie. The Kentucky Kid is eighth in the points table.
