Vivian Hoo Kah Mun and Woon Khe Wei nail Women’s Doubles title at Selangor Open – Badminton news
Malaysia’s talented female shuttlers Vivian Hoo Kah Mun and Woon Khe Wei proved their elevated skills by nailing the Women’s Doubles title at the Selangor Open on Sunday, February 26, at Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.
In the final battle, Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe defeated their lower ranked rivals Chow Mei Kuan and Lee Meng Yean.
Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe, who were the second seeds in the Women’s Doubles draw of the tournament, played to their maximum potential and overpowered their opponents without facing any problem.
The higher ranked Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe ended the final contest in straight games by consuming just 25 minutes in the court.
In the first set, Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe played well but could not set up a comfortable lead as their challengers also played at the similar speed. Both sides remained toe-to-toe by putting up tremendous show of quality badminton.
At the end of the opening half, both pairs could establish their supremacy in the game as they remained equal on the score board.
After the break, Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe tried to build lead by putting pressure on their opponents. They worked well at net by taking the bird early remained successful in breaking the flow of their rivals.
Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe played positive badminton in the ending phase of first set and won it with a tight 21-19 score on the board.
It was a completely different story in the second game as Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe played on a completely different level.
They remained in complete control throughout the opening half and set up an impressive lead until the break.
After the break, Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe continued their attacking play and dominated the pace of rallies by executing powerful smashes in the right areas.
Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe did not face any resistance from their lower ranked opponents in the entire second game and won it with a striking margin of 21-7.
This Women’s Doubles final contest ended in just 25 minutes with a 21-19 and 21-7 score on the board.
