Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei determined to deliver their best at SEA Games – Badminton news
Malaysia’s Women’s Doubles young shuttlers, Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei, who have recently won the title in last week’s Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold, are determined to deliver their best at next month’s SEA Games, which are set to kick-off in Indonesia.
It will be an uphill task for the duo to clinch the gold medal but they are confident to give their hundred percent and put up a strong show in the event. The pair enjoyed a well rewarded week at the Indonesia Open, when they defeated many top seeds in their
way towards glory. Their surprising yet remarkable performance in Indonesia has put them among the favourites for the Women’s Doubles title at the SEA Games.
Khe Wei said, “Although we are motivated and hungry for more titles after winning the Indonesian Open GP Gold, it is not going to be easy in the SEA Games. But we’ll try our best.”
While talking about the favourites to win the crown, Khe Wei expressed that Indonesian shuttlers are have good chances to win titles at the home event. However, the pair will employ everything to make their mark over all of their opponents to win glory for
Malaysia.
She said, “The Indonesian pairs will be favourites to win as they are seeded higher than us and will have homeground advantage. I had played in the Indonesian Open Super Series two years ago and I felt a bit nervous playing under such noisy conditions.”
The duo has attained a certain level of elite skills to compete at the highest level of the game and can beat the big guns in the Women’s Doubles category on a given day. Their confidence is touching the sky as they have won the Indonesia Open title after
beating many top pairs.
However, the Women’s Doubles coach, Rexy Mainaky does not put any pressure on the duo to win the title. He wants them to maintain their fitness and put in all their effort to perform well in the event.
