Vivian Hoo hopes to use Selangor Open experience in Yonex German Open – Badminton news
Malaysian female doubles expert Vivian Hoo is determined to use her Selangor Open experience in the Yonex German Open, starting today with qualifying round.
The Malaysian girl paired up with the maestro Lee Chong Wei in the mix doubles event of Selangor Open and clinched the mix doubles title along with women’s doubles title.
Vivian had a great learning experience with World Number one Lee Chong Wei and pocketed the full benefits of partnership. She learned to elevate her mental and physical performance and now she is all set to prove her worth in the German Open with her women
doubles partner Woon Khe Wei.
The World Number 18 duo Vivian-Khe Wei has forged a great chemistry in the past but Khe Wei’s ankle injury stopped their march in several events. They revived their old chemistry in Selangor Open and Vivian is hopeful to repeat the show in German Open also.
She said, “This is Khe Wei’s first big tournament after injuring her ankle at the Malaysia Open. She played in the Uber Cup qualifier and the Selangor Open and showed signs of improvement. I will be there to support her.”
The German Open qualifying round is putting them in a tough trial as they are scheduled to meet World Number 17 Russian pair Nina Vislova-Valeri Sorokina in opening contest.
The win will pave their path to second round and it is not going to be smooth sailing there also as they will have to surpass the World Number three Korean duo Ha Jung -Kim Min, the World Number six pair Miyuki Maeda-Satoko Suetsuna of Japan and top Indonesian
doubles team Meiliana Jauhari-Greysia Polii.
The Malaysian girls are hoping that tide of luck will take them into the London Olympics if they bag some valuable world ranking points by having a good run in the event.
Vivian said, “We want to reach at least the quarter-finals of the German Open as it will do a world of good for our hopes of qualifying for the Olympic Games. We want to try and break into the top-16 ranking.”
The Malaysian duo Vivian-Khe Wei is subjected to a selection contest for the Olympics with their compatriot female couple Chin Eei h*i-Wong Pei Tty, who also is trying to register their mark in the German Open Grand Prix Gold event.
