Vivian Kah Mun Hoo and Khe Wei Woon thrash top seeds in first round of the Thailand Open GP Gold
Malaysia’s Vivian Kah Mun Hoo and Khe Wei Woon have defeated top seeded pair, Duanganong Aroonkesorn and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul of Thailand, in the Women’s Doubles first round of the 2011 Thailand Open GP Gold, at Bangkok, on Thursday, June 9.
The Malaysian couple of Vivian Kah and Khe Wei played terrific badminton against Duanganong and Kunchala, to clinch the rubber-set match in 55 minutes.
The Malaysian duo opened their campaign against the Thai pair in a spirited manner, as they were playing an aggressive game. The Thai shuttlers were not playing well and seemed to be under the immense pressure of being top seeds. Vivian Kah and Khe Wei were
close to their local opponents until the second-half of the first game.
Duanganong and Kunchala managed to produce better shots at the ending phase of the first set. Vivian Kah and Khe Wei made some crucial mistakes at this stage and lost the set in 22-minutes with the score of 18-21.
In the second set, Vivian Kah and Khe Wei raised the level of their game and controlled the rallies by employing strong pushes and cross net shots. The Thai pair failed to break the flow of their opponents, who were not sparing any chance to score points.
Vivian Kah and Khe Wei finished the second game with a remarkable margin of 21-9, in just 15 minutes.
In the third set of this Women’s Doubles match, the Malaysians proved that they are stronger in every aspect of the game when compared to their Thai opponents, who were the top seeds. Vivian Kah and Khe Wei kept their momentum going by dictating the pace
of the enocunter. They were very sharp on the net and maintained their pressure on Duanganong and Kunchala, who failed to put up any sort of resistance.
Vivian Kah and Khe Wei finished the third game in 18 minutes with a 21-12 difference. The 55-minute rubber-set battle ended with an 18-21, 21-9 and 21-12 score on the board.
