Viztoria, the one to look out for in the restrained line-up of the Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Blenheim Stakes (Listed Race)
A highly moderate line-up of seven two-year-old runners has gathered for the Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Blenheim Stakes (Listed Race). The contestants are taking their chances with the €25,675 prize money. The six furlong trip will be held at Curragh race course on Sunday, 30th September.
The only entry who did try the luck at the graded level, came out miserably. The two-year-old Irish bay filly, Snow Queen, ended twelfth in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes (Fillies) on 9th September, 2012 at Curragh over seven furlongs.
The race was won by, Sky Lantern, who defeated, Scintillula, by 2 ½ lengths.
This loss came in just after the Aidan O’Brien’s favourite entry had landed the Lodger European Breeders Fund Fillies Race on 25th August, 2012 at Curragh over seven furlongs.
She is supported by 7 to 1 odds for creating an impact in the race, and will be guided through the track distance by the stable jockey, Joseph O’Brien.
The David Wachman trained chestnut filly, Awakened Spirit, has also filled in some gaps by her recent performance, and the consistency that she has displayed.
She made it through the maiden on 10th August, 2012 in the McGrath Oil Maiden at Tipperary over five furlongs. Her partnership with jockey, Wayne Lordan, ended with success over, Red Queen, by 1 ½ lengths.
The Thomas F. Kearney owned had her debut handicap success in the Wuhan Goodwill Cup Nursery Handicap on 25th August, 2012 at Curragh over six furlongs.
Coupled with jockey, Wayne Lordan, once again, the joint favourite made the most of the chance by staying strong and determined, easing through the wire by the margin of 1 ½ lengths.
She has been allotted the first gate, and is backed by 5 to 1 odds for the race today.
Oratorio’s bay filly, Viztoria, has become the most preferred candidate for the race due to the impressive margin of 7 ½ lengths by which she cleared her maiden, and the transit from Adrian McGuinness’s stables to Edward Lynam’s. She is represented by 3 to 1 odds, has been allocated the fifth stall, and will race with jockey, Johnny Murtagh, which is again a plus point for her.
