Aston Villa’s latest signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ron-Vlaar-c31697 has praised former Feyenoord teammate Karim El-Ahmadi for helping him settle at Villa Park. The Dutch defender is looking forward to linking up with El-Ahmadi in an Aston Villa jersey.
The 27-year old centre-half had been a major target for new Villa manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert ever since he arrived from Carrow Road. Vlaar had a very impressive Euro 2012 campaign with the Dutch national team, and despite a poor showing by the side, Vlaar was
one of the few players who stood out and caught the eye of all those watching.
He was understood to have travelled to England last month in order to hold talks with Lambert and finalise his move to England, but there had been a failure to reach an agreement. The player returned back to Holland, unsure about his future. The deal looked
to have hit a dead end.
Out of nowhere however, Villa announced his signing about a week ago in a £5 million move. Vlaar recently made his Villa debut in a 3-1 friendly defeat at Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The defender is very happy to have moved to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and is looking forward
to a blossoming career in an Aston Villa jersey.
The 27-year old powerhouse has thanked former Feyenoord teammate Karim El-Ahmadi, whom he captained back in the Eredivisie. The duo had played alongside each other and had helped http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 qualify for a Champions League spot and finish second in the Dutch
league.
Speaking about El-Ahmadi and his move to England, Vlaar said:
“I was looking forward to linking up with Karim again. We sat next to each other in the dressing room at Feyenoord. We know each other really well.”
“To have Karim here makes it easier for me to settle and become a member of the group. I will feel at home. It certainly makes it easier. But even if that wasn’t the case you find your way. We will see what happens.”
“I have heard some good stories from Karim about the club, the way of living here in Birmingham – the area is fantastic – and the training.”
